Grammar Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All

A lot of grammar is subjective—especially in fiction. There are multiple style guides, each with its own rules, preferences, and quirks. Multiple style guides exist because there’s no single ‘correct’ way to handle every grammar or punctuation choice. And that’s the point: language isn’t fixed. Fiction often bends rules and guidelines to adapt to genre, voice, tone, pacing, and reader expectations.

My goal isn’t to enforce rigid rules. It’s to help you create a smooth, distraction-free reading experience where your voice shines and readers stay In the Zone.

Grammar rules evolve—what was “wrong” 20 years ago is often standard now.

I offer suggestions based on clarity, consistency, and industry standards—as well as rules and guidelines.

You decide what fits your story.
