About pccProofreading

I’m Pam, the person behind pccProofreading. I’ve always been an avid reader—the kind who falls into a story and doesn’t surface until the last page. But my path to becoming a fiction editor wasn’t a straight line.

For 20 years, I worked as a Business Analyst where accuracy, clarity, and consistency weren’t optional—they were essential. That experience strengthened my ability to manage multiple projects, verify details with precision, and juggle large-volume workloads—skills that translate beautifully into fiction and corporate editing.

After a company restructuring, I bounced between contract roles but struggled to find a permanent position. That pushed me to pause and ask myself what I actually wanted to do. The answer was easy: work with stories. I completed formal proofreading training, building on my existing strengths, and launched pccProofreading. Six years later, I’m still grateful I made that leap.

Today, I work with independent authors across Romance (MC, Security Company, Military, Suspense, Paranormal, Werewolves & Shifters, Fantasy, Spicy/Erotic, Horror), Paranormal, and Cozy Mystery. I deeply admire authors—your creativity, your perseverance, and your ability to bring entire worlds to life. I may not be the one writing the story, but I am helping make sure the story reads smoothly, clearly, and without distracting hiccups.

My goal is simple: help you deliver a smooth, engaging, distraction-free reading experience while keeping your unique voice intact. I offer suggestions—not demands. You stay in control of your book, and I help keep your readers In the Zone from the first page to “The End.”

What I Bring to Every Project

  • Detail-oriented focus
  • Consistency across scenes, timelines, and character traits
  • Dependability—if I say I’ll do it, I do it
  • Flexibility with deadlines and scheduling
  • A clear, encouraging communication style

I’ve also worked in corporate proofreading, supporting marketing materials, and communication with Medicare Advantage plans. That experience strengthened my ability to manage multiple projects, verify details with precision, and juggle large-volume workloads—skills that translate beautifully into fiction and corporate editing.

If you’re looking for a detail-driven editor who respects your voice, understands your genre, and helps keep your readersIn the Zone, I’d love to work with you.

 About Bruce (Chief Supervising Pup)

Every editor needs a second set of eyes, and around here, that’s Bruce—my yorkie mix and self-appointed office manager. He takes his role very seriously, especially when it involves napping on my lap, supervising snack breaks, or reminding me when it’s time to step away from the screen.

Bruce is convinced he runs the household (and honestly, he might be right). His specialties include moral support, comedic timing, and making sure I never sit still for too long. He doesn’t proofread, but he’s excellent company during long editing days—and he insists on being included.
